I was referred to Mr Clifton for knee surgery following a sports injury. From the first appointment, which was to discuss MRI results, I felt confident of a positive outcome. He clearly explained what he recommended be done during surgery and why. I needed to have an ACL reconstruction as well as medial and lateral meniscal trimming and repair. I was a little apprehensive of his post surgery protocol, as when I had similar surgery on my other knee, I did not full weight bear immediately. However, having fully complied with his post surgery protocol, I have had a completely problem free recovery. I highly recommend Mr Clifton to anyone that requires any kind of knee surgery and am forever grateful to the amazing care if provided during the process of my time under his care.

Mr Clifton told me what would happen during operation and after surgery. He answered any questions I had and put me totally at ease. I felt very confident my knee problems would be sorted out and the considerable pain I had been suffering would ease. After several months (6/7) I sometimes had a feeling of tightness around the knee which felt like a tight bandage inside the skin, but at my check up, Mr Clifton assured me this is normal and is to do with the fluid around the knee. This feeling does go away after walking around for a little while. I would highly recommend Mr Clifton, I now have a neat scar and am pain free. The total knee replacement is one of the best things I have ever had done and now means I can walk normally again without the pain which stopped me from going out. Thank you Mr Clifton.

Rupert Clifton has done an excellent job on my total knee replacement which he carried out 6 months ago. He is a friendly, approachable doctor who explains the procedures but also listens to you. I would recommend him to anyone requiring knee surgery.

Right from the first time I met Mr Clifton I was impressed. Following an X-ray which showed my problem he laid out the course of treatments could follow and was more than happy to answer any questions I had. We discussed my condition and agreed on a course of action that involved surgery for a partial replacement of my knee. The operation was carried out at a time that suited me. Following on from my Op I was given some exercises to follow which I dutifully did. As the staff explained you have to get mobile as soon as possible to help get as much flexibility as is possible . So although there is pain initially, in the long run the mixture of following the exercises , resting with it up and icing the knee have worked for me. Six months down the line I have a scar which you can hardly see and great flexibility in the knee. If you can after the initial exercises start swimming cycling and using a cross trainer. All are good exercises for knees without the strain.
